C.S.Ling and Lasalle students at Oasis 2nd Chance

It’s always been my mission to raise awareness for animals in need through photography, be it endangered orangutan orphans or our abandoned street dogs. Last year, I became a lecturer at Lasalle College of the Arts and have brought my students with me on this meaningful journey to photograph the sweet and wonderful dogs at Oasis 2nd Chance Anmal Shelter.

Nikon Singapore generously sponsored the camera equipments to the students at LASALLE College of Arts which I’m really grateful for. My students not only learn the art of photography but also the power of photography as a tool to raise awareness for those in need. We’ve donated over a hundred photos to the shelter in hopes to help the dogs find a potential loving home and be given a 2nd chance. Will you give them a 2nd chance?

Do You Know?

The rental at Oasis 2nd Chance is close to $7000 a month (with slightly less than 1/3 being sponsored by a regular donor). Food which consists of
Rice is around $1,300 per month, Meat Dust around $1,500++ per month and
Canned food. On top on this there are vet bills which also vary, on some months it could reach thousands. To sum up, the total cost of running the shelter would be approximately $10,000. Find out how you can help here.

“This has definitely changed my perception somehow, towards these animals. In the past, I wouldn’t dare to approach them since I have a notion that I couldn’t help them. Guilt and pity always envelope me when I saw them and I want to avoid them as much as possible in order to not experience this feeling. Yet now, I know I can help them in my own way, skills provided by Ms. Ling’s class. Why not use this gift to help their lives. A win-win situation?” – Julia Soh

“The experience brought me to awaken my realization about the wellfare of dogs coz from my country, I see a lot of strays and dogs with no home. So this shoot kind of nudged back that memory on how they deserved to have a better environment and proper caring.” – Kevin Loredo
