Sweet, little Winnie (12- year-old Shih-Tzu) was originally going for a regular on-location session with Sherwin (3-year-old Toy Poodle) and her family. However, it turned into a Tribute Session as they found out Winnie was really ill with Leukemia one week before the photoshoot. On the morning of the Photo session, we were blessed with a really beautiful blue sky morning at East Coast Park beach. Winnie, Sherwin and the family enjoyed the sun, sand and sea as beautiful treasured memories were captured.

The couple, Wei Siong and Hazel, chose the above photo as the cover for their Photo Album, which will be displayed at their wedding reception : )
An amazing and happy experience
The whole session was special and meaningful, filled with lots of smiles and laughter. There were some sad moments, as there always are, but overall it was an amazing and happy experience. Though Winnie was already really sick and weak then, she was really happy and enjoy the photo shoot ( just look at her sweet smiley face! ). Sherwin is playful and full of energy as he ran about on the grass field!
The shoot came at a timely moment as one of our dog, Winnie (the Shih Tzu) was unexpectedly diagnosed with Leukemia. We decided to go to our fav haunt with the dogs, east coast park. This is where I spent a lot of memories with Winnie especially and Ling was totally cool with it. She even gave constructive suggestion as to which specific area is good for photo shoot. Ling was very professionally during the photo shoot. She made us feel at ease during the shoot and we had a lot of fun with the dogs. Although Winnie was not well, we could see that she was very happy and Ling captured every moment of that. To us, those moments was very precious as it was her last few weeks with us. We are very thankful to Ling as she captured not only the beautiful moments but also Winnie’s smile.
We received the finished product with much satisfaction and people around us who saw the photos were all very impressed! I would definitely recommend C.S.Ling Pets & Family Photography to everyone as I felt that anyone who owned a pet should have a memorabilia of their best friends. It will be even more precious after your best friends leaves you for a better place and what’s not better than to have it taken by a professional like Ling who have the skills and ability to capture those special moments for you. Thank you Ling!

Cats, more then almost any other pet, can be extremely challenging just by their very nature. Bob and Sam definitey lives up to their feline reputation. I can definately feel a sense of regalness as I slowly get close to them to help familiarize them with my camera. It certainly took awhile for them to look my Nikon in the eye but the patience paid off! 🙂

Sam’s favourite corner of the house, unfortunately, Bob’s favourite too it seems. Soon after this picture was taken, a fight broke out between the two and Sam took a swipe at Bob’s eyes and regained her throne. Bob sadly retreated behind the curtain for the rest of the shoot. 🙁 I guess cats fight for the Hub Station while humans fight for the remote control? hehe
Photographing our two cats has always been a challenge, given their skittish and shy nature. As such it was a pleasure working with C.S.Ling Photography to bring out the best in Samantha and Bob’s personalities for a family photo session. Their patience and skill were excellent, which shows in the photos from the session – we’re really pleased at how the finished prints brought out the personalities of both cats.

It’s always been my mission to raise awareness for animals in need through photography, be it endangered orangutan orphans or our abandoned street dogs. Last year, I became a lecturer at Lasalle College of the Arts and have brought my students with me on this meaningful journey to photograph the sweet and wonderful dogs at Oasis 2nd Chance Anmal Shelter.
Nikon Singapore generously sponsored the camera equipments to the students at LASALLE College of Arts which I’m really grateful for. My students not only learn the art of photography but also the power of photography as a tool to raise awareness for those in need. We’ve donated over a hundred photos to the shelter in hopes to help the dogs find a potential loving home and be given a 2nd chance. Will you give them a 2nd chance?
Do You Know?
The rental at Oasis 2nd Chance is close to $7000 a month (with slightly less than 1/3 being sponsored by a regular donor). Food which consists of
Rice is around $1,300 per month, Meat Dust around $1,500++ per month and
Canned food. On top on this there are vet bills which also vary, on some months it could reach thousands. To sum up, the total cost of running the shelter would be approximately $10,000. Find out how you can help here.
“This has definitely changed my perception somehow, towards these animals. In the past, I wouldn’t dare to approach them since I have a notion that I couldn’t help them. Guilt and pity always envelope me when I saw them and I want to avoid them as much as possible in order to not experience this feeling. Yet now, I know I can help them in my own way, skills provided by Ms. Ling’s class. Why not use this gift to help their lives. A win-win situation?” – Julia Soh
“The experience brought me to awaken my realization about the wellfare of dogs coz from my country, I see a lot of strays and dogs with no home. So this shoot kind of nudged back that memory on how they deserved to have a better environment and proper caring.” – Kevin Loredo
